Toledo celebrated 20 young leaders who have distinguished themselves in their career or as a community volunteer during the 23rd annual 20 under 40 Leadership Recognition Awards program.

This year’s recipients were selected by an independent panel from a record number of 255 candidates and announced at an award ceremony Monday at the Valentine Theatre.

The awardees include:

• Megan Casiere with the Lucas County Commissioners.
• Michael Craig with Mercy Health.
• Kate Decker with Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP.
• Brady Fineske with TDC Investment Agency.
• Jordan Garza with the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
• Bruce Gradkowski with the NFL, Social Gastropub, ProMedica, and Pilgrimage Hospice.
• Lisa Hanasono with Bowling Green State University.
• Alexis Hayman-Staples with Harold Jaffe Jewelers and the Collingwood Arts Center.
• Rob Krain with Black Swamp Conservancy.
• Angela Lucas with the City of Toledo.
• Sam Melden with ProMedica.
• Aaron Montz with the City of Tiffin.
• Joshua Murnen with the Lucas County Land Bank.
• Jodi Rucker with ProMedica’s Memorial and Fostoria Community hospitals.
• Kate Sommerfeld with ProMedica.
• Kevan Toney with the Toledo Police Department.
• Josh Wagy with FuseTech, Inc., Kengo Sushi & Yakitori, and Smashing Toledo.
• Britney Ward with Hospital Council of Northwest Ohio.
