Bowling Green City Schools released students early Tuesday because of extreme heat, said Superintendent Francis Scruci.
Middle and high school students were released at 12:30 p.m. and elementary students will be dismissed at 1:30 p.m.
Bowling Green High School classrooms were 97 degrees and elementary school classrooms were about 92 and 93 degrees, Mr. Scruci said.

“Certainly we can’t put our students at risk,” he said.
Crim Elementary and Bowling Green Middle School are the only schools in the district with air conditioning. Transportation issues, and bus routes, requires all students be released, Mr. Scruci said.
