Equipment costs county $24K; to be worn by on-duty deputies

Recordings will be kept for six months, or 30 days after a case closes if there is an arrest. The equipment requires deputies to manually switch on the cameras.

Law-enforcement officers are pleased to have the new equipment, Sheriff Tharp said.

“Keep in mind that deputies are citizens, too, of this community. The cameras can be used for evidence, investigation, trials,” the sheriff said.
