An East Toledo woman is accused of stealing a vehicle at a convenience store early Tuesday with a 2-year-old boy and another passenger inside.
Danielle M. Martinez, 30, of the 1300 block of White Street, was arrested at 3:20 a.m. and charged with kidnapping, a second-degree felony, along with theft of a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony.
Donte Williams, the father of the child, stopped at 7-Eleven, 537 Woodville Ave., at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to a Toledo police report. He and his passengers went inside.
Martinez, who was also a passenger in the vehicle, is accused of getting into the driver’s seat without permission. The 2-year-old and another passenger who were also in the vehicle were both asleep, according to a complaint filed in Toledo Municipal Court.
The age and identity of the other passenger was not released.
Martinez was found on Parker Avenue asleep in the driver’s seat. The child and the passenger were unharmed. She is being held in the Lucas County jail.
Martinez appeared for arraignment Tuesday before Judge Michelle Wagner in Toledo Municipal Court. Bond was set at $60,000 with no 10 percent. Martinez was ordered to have no contact with the victims.
She will appear for a preliminary hearing April 18.
