Rossford police Chief Glenn Goss, Sr., announced Wednesday he will resign after almost seven years on the job.
In a post on the Rossford Police Department's Facebook page, Chief Goss said his decision is "directly related to affording his son, Glenn Goss, Jr., career opportunities that would potentially be limited as long as the senior Goss remained Chief."
Chief Goss' son was hired as an officer by the department in 2016.
Chief Goss said he "had a great run" leading the department. He pointed to obtaining a grant to build a $400,000 indoor firing range, replacing all police vehicles, increasing community involvement, and employing a school resource officer as among his proudest accomplishments.
His resignation will take effect Friday. Chief Goss will assist Mayor Neil MacKinnon in his search for the department's next chief.
Chief Goss said he “cannot thank the citizens of Rossford enough for their past and continued support” of its police force.
Sgt. Mark Marek will serve as interim chief.
