MILAN, Ohio — The Ohio Highway Patrol is asking for the public’s help in finding a vehicle that sideswiped a stopped patrol cruiser Thursday.
The vehicle is believed to be a white Volvo commercial vehicle, hauling a white box trailer, troopers said. Dashcam video showed the trailer has a wind fairing, which spans the entire length of the trailer along with a black placard displayed on the passenger side and rear doors.

At about 2 a.m., a trooper from the Milan post was stopped with activated overhead lights on the westbound side of the Ohio Turnpike, just east of the U.S. 250 exit in Erie County, according to a highway patrol report. The trooper had just finished assisting a motorist with a tire change and was inside his cruiser when the commercial vehicle struck it.
The trooper was not injured, but the cruiser sustained disabling damage to the left front end — damaging the tire, which prevented the trooper from pursuing the vehicle.
Anyone with information on locating or identifying the vehicle is asked to call the Ohio Highway Patrol, Milan Post, at 419-499-4808 or #677.
