The Lucas County Canine Care & Control celebrated leap year with a one-day adoption special on Saturday.

Adoption fees for all available dogs were $5 on Saturday only. Adopters also were required to buy a $25 dog license. Potential adopters were urged to bring everyone in the household, including children and other canines, to meet the shelter dogs.

The shelter will be open until 5 p.m. Saturday.

Animals available for adoption may be viewed at lucascountydogs.com or at the 410 S. Erie St. shelter near downtown Toledo.

All canines are spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, tested for heartworm, and treated for parasites.
