Donations to improve Toledo's Navarre Park

Needed improvements are coming to Navarre Park.

Toledo Refining Co. and Mercy Health have announced $50,000 and $20,000 donations, respectively, that will help fund a series of upgrades to the East Toledo public park.

City officials said they’ll match the donations over several years. They’re gathering input from the community to develop and prioritize a list of how to spend the money.

City Councilman Peter Ujvagi, who lives in East Toledo and represents District 3, said the partnership will reinvigorate a key city park.

“As long-neglected infrastructure in the park is renewed and creative opportunities for enjoyment and recreation are developed, Navarre Park will again be the ‘Central Park’ for East Toledo neighborhoods,” he said.
