UT tech startup competition returns with $17,000 on the line

The University of Toledo’s Pitch & Pour event — where local tech startups compete for more than $17,000 — returns this week after a two-year hiatus.

The free, public event takes place at 5 p.m. Thursday in the Nitschke Technology Commercialization Complex on the UT campus. Registration is required at utoledo.edu/incubator/pitchandpour/.

Competitors in the event, put on by the university’s Business Incubator, have five minutes to pitch their concepts to a judging panel of local experts and investors. Five teams are competing this year, including a robotics company, a cooking recipe application firm, and a company making a more durable type of fencepost.
