FREMONT — Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library & Museums will be screening a film featuring the story of the 5th U.S. Colored Troops in the Civil War.
Camp Delaware chronicles the recruitment, training, battles, bravery and service of the regiment. The film, a recording of a stage production, It incorporates speeches of political figures of the day, letters from the soldiers and sounds of popular music of the era to bring the unit’s story to life, a museum news release said.
It will be shown at 3 p.m. Sunday and will be followed by a question-and-answer session with the filmmakers.
Tickets are $15 and available online at rbhayes.org/news/. Tickets will be sold at the front desk the day of the event, pending availability.
Proceeds benefit the Community Arts Network Performing Arts Scholarship, a scholarship for Ohio graduating high school seniors who will be attending an Ohio college or university to pursue a degree in the performing arts.
