Municipal Court Judge Timothy Kuhlman will discuss criminal justice reform on Thursday, closing out the season of the First Thursday speaker series.
His presentation will focus on why the United States has so many people in jail and how Lucas County fits into the equation, including how the court sets bonds, the relationship between criminal justice and addiction, procedural fairness, and re-entry challenges, organizers said.
The April event begins at noon with lunch followed by a 30-45 minute talk and a Q&A period. The cost is $15, cash or check at the door for the lunch and lecture. The presentation without lunch is $5. First Thursday takes place at Monroe Street United Methodist Church, 3613 Monroe St. No reservations are required.
First Thursday is sponsored by an interfaith network of social justice advocates. The 2025-26 luncheon series will begin in October and run through April, 2026.
