SANDUSKY — The Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office has reopened a 2009 case after a Clyde man was recently charged in the death of Heather Bogle.
Daniel R. Myers, 48, was arrested last week in the Wooded Acres Campground in Lindsey, according to sheriff’s deputies. His charges included aggravated murder, aggravated robbery, kidnapping, and tampering with evidence.
Ms. Bogle, 28, was found April 10, 2015 in the trunk of her car in Clyde. She had gone missing after leaving work the day before.
The sheriff’s office is now opening a March 2009 case in which Mr. Myers called 911 for his then girlfriend, who he reportedly found unresponsive.
Leigh Ann Sluder, 37, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office incident report. An autopsy revealed she died of a gunshot wound to the chest, according to the sheriff’s office.
At the time of that incident, Ms. Sluder was living at the Emerald Estates trailer park in Clyde. Sheriff’s deputies conducted a search warrant in that location several weeks ago.
“We received information that Ms. Sluder’s death was suspicious to her family and friends and upon Mr. Myers being arrested with Ms. Bogle’s case, we thought it would be prudent to look at Ms. Sluder’s case,” said Sandusky County Sheriff Office Chief Deputy Edward Hastings. “Family and friends believe it was suspicious, so we wanted to take another look.”
Chief Deputy Hastings said Ms. Sluder apparently shot herself with a rifle.
“She was a petite woman. We just want to go back and make sure everything is in line,” he said.
Mr. Myers and Ms. Sluder worked at Whirpool Corp. together and had a child together, Chief Deputy Hastings said.
The case was opened late last week, and the sheriff’s office does not have a time frame on how long the investigation will take.
No additional charges have been filed in the Bogle case, the chief deputy said.
