FREMONT — Bond was set at $2 million Tuesday for a Clyde man charged with aggravated murder with death-penalty specifications in the 2015 death of a Fremont woman.
Daniel Myers, 48, appeared before Sandusky County Common Pleas Judge John Dewey for arraignment on two counts of aggravated murder and one count each of kidnapping, aggravated robbery, and tampering with evidence for the death of Heather Bogle, 28.
Ms. Bogle was found on April 10, 2015, in her car’s trunk at a Clyde apartment complex after being shot and beaten.
She had gone missing after leaving work at the Whirlpool plant in Clyde where Mr. Myers also worked.
An autopsy concluded she died of two gunshot wounds and blunt-force trauma.
Mr. Myers appeared in court without an attorney, and Judge Dewey gave him a week to inform the court whether he intended to hire an attorney or ask the court to appoint counsel for him.
Before the judge set bond, Mr. Myers argued briefly that he was not a flight risk, that he had family locally, and would not leave the area.
Sandusky County Prosecutor Tim Braun asked the court to set a $2 million bond, which the judge did.
