A known Moody Manor Bloods gang member was sentenced Wednesday to seven years in prison for assaulting another man at a central Toledo gas station.
A jury found Kevin Martin, 24, of the 4100 block of Bernwick Avenue, guilty earlier this month for his role in the beating and robbery of a man Aug. 22 at the Gas & Go located at Cherry and Bancroft streets.
Investigators testified that Martin was a known gang member of a group that claims territory surrounding the Moody Manor apartment complex.
An argument ensued between another man and Martin, along with his co-defendants, DeAngelo Gott, Shawna Merriweather, and Shantay Saxton. While Gott punched the victim to the ground, Martin pulled down the man’s pants while the women kicked him, prosecutors said.
Judge Myron Duhart sentenced Martin to seven years in prison for participating in a criminal gang and complicity to commit both felonious assault and aggravated robbery during the August incident.
Martin faced a maximum of 33 years in prison.
