Two people previously charged with obstruction in the case of two teens who were kidnapped and later found dead in the rubble of a burned house were indicted for murder Wednesday by a Lucas County grand jury, along with the man previously charged with their killings and a fourth individual.
In all six people were indicted in the case.
Corbin Gingrich, 26, Carrissa Eames, 23, and Don Eames, whose age was not immediately available, were all charged with two counts each of murder and first-degree kidnapping in connection with the deaths of Kyshawn Pittman, 15, and Ke’Marion Wilder, 16. Cruz Garcia, 24, who was previously charged with murder, is charged with two counts of aggravated murder along with two apiece of murder and kidnapping. Indicted on the same charges were Brent Kohlhoffer and Charles Walker, records show
The Pittman and Wilder boys went missing Dec. 3 after attending a party at Maumee Bay State Park. During a Toledo Municipal Court hearing Dec. 20, prosecutors alleged Mr. Garcia, of the 1900 block of Greenwood Avenue in East Toledo, had taken them from a home on Maumee Street in South Toledo where they had gone by Uber after leaving the party.
Mr. Gingrich and Carrissa Eames, who lived in the Maumee Street house, told police in an interview they had lured the boys there to confront one of them about a stolen gun, and the boys’ Facebook messages showing them there was the last they were heard from. Their bodies were found Dec. 16 amid rubble in the basement of a long-vacant house at 3015 Chase St. that had burned in a suspected arson 11 days prior.
Mr. Gingrich and Ms. Eames, who initially told police they had not seen the boys on the night they disappeared but later changed their stories, had been charged with obstruction of justice. The role of Mr. Eames, who court records listed as living in the 1100 block of Pinebrook Parkway in southwest Toledo, in the case was not immediately clear.
Diamond Rivera, 29, and Crystal Laforge-Yingling, 44, who were previously charged with obstruction of justice for lying to police about the whereabouts of those involved in the case, were formally indicted on that charge Wednesday. Ms. Rivera is accused of providing a false alibi for Mr. Garcia, her boyfriend who, according to police, arrived at the Eames/Gingrich house in a pickup truck that belonged to her after being summoned there.
Police said Mr. Garcia led the boys, who by then were forcibly restrained with their hands tied behind their backs, into a Chevrolet sedan and drove away with them.
Mr. Garcia and Ms. Eames also were indicted for obstructing justice, and Mr. Garcia also was indicted for trafficking in marijuana and having weapons under disability.
