One of two people charged with a 14-year-old’s shooting death early this month remained at large after the pair were indicted for aggravated murder by the Lucas County grand jury.
Makala Anderson, 26, and Jermaine Johnson, 24, both of the 1100 block of Starr Avenue, are charged with aggravated murder, murder, attempted murder, and three counts apiece of felonious assault, all with gun specifications.
The indictments were issued Thursday. The counts relate to a Dec. 19 shooting at Bronson Avenue and Mulberry Street that killed Terrance Green and wounded two other youths.
Ms. Anderson was arrested after the Dec. 19 shooting, but Johnson remained at large. He had been in Common Pleas Court on Dec. 7 to enter a plea to improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle in a previous case, but failed to appear Friday for his sentencing hearing.
Johnson was separately indicted Thursday for three counts of felonious assault along with another codefendant, Jayshawn Bruster, 18, of the 1000 block of Evesham Avenue.
While Johnson’s indictment was an original charge, Mr. Bruster had been charged in Toledo Municipal Court with the same counts relating to a drive-by shooting Dec. 17 in which several shots were fired at a vehicle, court records show.
Johnson and Ms. Anderson also are charged with first-degree firing on or near prohibited premises in the Dec. 19 shooting. Johnson also is charged with having weapons while under disability. Mr. Bruster also is charged with illegally carrying a concealed weapon in the Dec. 17 shooting.
Arraignments for all defendants in the two cases are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday before Judge Dean Mandros of Lucas County Common Pleas Court.
