Julie Beale is a dynamic and compassionate educator who demands the best from her students at Bowsher High School. Every day she greets her students with a welcoming smile and they are eager to begin the day’s lessons. Her students know that each day in her classroom will be filled with vibrant teaching, lively discussion and demanding activities. Ms. Beale is known for delivering rigorous and relevant lessons and setting high expectations for her students.
This year, Ms. Beale was one of eight teachers to volunteer to plan, organize, and teach in Bowsher’s Freshman Academy. A new, district-wide initiative, the Freshman Academy is designed to provide additional academic opportunities, social and emotional support and collaborative teaching and learning for Bowsher’s freshmen. She is highly respected by her colleagues who benefit from her keen wit and collaboration skills.
Her experience and leadership contribute profoundly to the program’s success. “She is full of great ideas and yet always open to your ideas,” said colleague and fellow English teacher Stacy Bell.
Ms. Beale also volunteers her time as the advisor the Teen PEP, a primary abuse prevention program that involves youth in creating a positive environment where responsible decisions are valued. This year she also volunteered to serve as the school’s yearbook advisor.
Ms. Beale is a graduate of Calvin M. Woodward High School and earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Toledo.
