Ottawa Hills Local Schools officials announced an employee is on administrative leave pending the outcome of a police investigation.
Superintendent Adam Fineske, who informed parents about the matter via email Sunday morning, told The Blade the employee was placed on administrative leave within about 30 minutes of the district being notified of the investigation roughly two weeks ago.
“I can’t provide any further details at this time as it’s still under police investigation,” Mr. Fineske said. “The district is cooperating fully with police.”
The employee is also prohibited from being on school property or attending school events as the investigation proceeds.
Ottawa Hills police directed all questions to be sent via email to Chief John Wenzlick.
“I can confirm that the Ottawa Hills Police Department is conducting an investigation involving an Ottawa Hills Schools staff member,” the chief replied. “Throughout our investigation, the Ottawa Hills Local School District has been fully cooperative and helpful. This is an ongoing investigation, and further details will not be released [Sunday].”
