An 11th tornado is confirmed from the June 15 storms, the latest over Maumee Bay State Park, the National Weather Service confirmed Thursday.
“After the Toledo tornado dissipated near Harbor View, a waterspout developed 0.8 mile north of South Shore Park over Maumee Bay,” the weather service said in a statement.
“The waterspout tracked southeast just north of Maumee Bay Lodge and Conference Center and moved onshore as a tornado on the eastern part of the park. Several trees, mostly dead, were blown over damaging the boardwalk,” the statement added.
No injuries were reported.
The tornado had an estimated peak wind of 80 mph, its path was 3.08 miles, and its path width up to 50 yards.
It hit about 6:20 p.m. It started about two miles east-northeast of Harbor View and ended three miles north-northeast of Oregon in Lucas County, according to a weather service report.
Its the second tornado confirmed that evening in Lucas County. The other was in Point Place where recovery efforts are continuing. In all, 10 tornadoes are confirmed in northern Ohio on June 15 and an 11th in Michigan about 25 miles north of Toledo at Detroit Beach. The Maumee Bay State Park tornado was classified on the Enhanced Fujita Scale as EF0 with wind speeds of 65 to 85 mph.
