The Lucas County Engineer’s Office has been recognized as a conservation advocate by the Ohio Department of Agriculture.
The office was one of three entities cited for their contributions to improving water quality through H2Ohio, a state project dedicated to ensuring clean and safe water in Ohio.
Joe Nester, an independent crop consultant based in Bryan, Ohio, received the Lifetime Achievement Award “for being a long-time champion of and contributor to water quality efforts,” a news release said. The Greene Soil & Water Conservation District in Greene County, which is east of Dayton, and the engineer’s office were recognized with Lifetime Conservation Advocate Awards, the district “for outstanding program delivery and administration,” and the Lucas County Engineer’s Office “for lasting impact on water quality through conservation ditch implementation.”
The awards were presented by Brian Baldridge, the state’s agriculture director, at the 2025 Ohio Federation of Soil and Water Conservation Districts annual Partnership Meeting in Columbus, the news release said.
