Murder indictment returned in co-ed s death

LIMA, Ohio A student at Ohio State University s Lima campus is to be arraigned Friday before Allen County Common Pleas Judge Richard Warren on a charge of murder with a gun specification.

Richard M. Wegmann II, 19, of Springboro, Ohio, was initially charged with reckless homicide, a third-degree felony, stemming from the Feb. 12 shooting death of Linsi E. Light, 19, at the Coachman East Apartments on Bellefontaine Avenue. Last week, a secret indictment was handed up by an Allen County grand jury, charging him with the more serious count.

Police are saying little about what they believe happened to Miss Light, an OSU-Lima student from Montpelier, Ohio. Lt. Michael Keith said Mr. Wegmann and Miss Light had a previous relationship and lived in the same apartment complex.

Mr. Wegmann, who is being held in the Allen County jail, turned himself in after the shooting. On Friday, he was served with the indictment, and Judge Warren set bond at $500,000.
