A man shot Wednesday in North Toledo has died in the hospital, authorities said.

An autopsy is pending, said Dr. James Patrick, Lucas County coroner.

The man was taken to Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center and appeared to have multiple gunshot wounds, Dr. Patrick said.

The man's name and further details were not immediately available.

A call to Toledo police at about 3:40 p.m. indicated a male had been shot and was lying on the ground in an alley near East Oakland Street and Franklin Avenue.

Toledo police are investigating.
