Toledo police arrested two teenagers they believe were involved in the December attack of a cat in East Toledo.
The boys, ages 14 and 16, were arrested Monday evening and will face felony cruelty to animals charges, said Toledo police Lt. Kevan Toney, a department spokesman.
They’ll likely have a hearing Tuesday in Juvenile Court.
A witness saw the two boys abusing Freedom, an orange adult male cat, on Dec. 27 in the 900 block of Freedom Street, according to a Toledo police report. One teen struck Freedom’s head with a baseball bat while the second kicked the animal, the report stated.
Freedom suffered eye damage and possible facial and jaw fractures.
Compassionate Village animal rescue took in Freedom and has been raising money for his medical treatment and care.
