The condition of a Sylvania Northview High School student who was hospitalized after being struck by a car Monday afternoon near the school is not considered life-threatening, authorities said.
“I have been in contact with the student's family Monday night as well as today and have been given permission to share that he is doing well and is eager to return to school,” Mark Pugh, the school principal, wrote in an email sent Wednesday to Northview High families.
School officials declined to identify the student.
The crash occurred about 2:45 p.m. on Silica Drive near the school, according to Sylvania police. The teen, whose name was not released, was transported to ProMedica Toledo Hospital.
Counselors were made available at the school “for any student, especially witnesses who might be concerned or in distress given the circumstances of this incident,” according to the principal.
