Toledo police investigated threats of an active shooter Wednesday at area Walmarts but said no actual danger existed to the public.
Officers were dispatched to all area Walmart locations after an individual reportedly made threats to harm a store in the Toledo area, police spokesman Lt. Kevan Toney said. He did not give details about the threat.
Police negotiators were in phone contact with that individual, who is not in the Toledo area and is not believed to pose an immediate threat, Lieutenant Toney said. The person was located shortly after.
“The investigation is ongoing; however, there is no longer a threat to area Walmart locations,” the department said in a tweet.

The individual who made the threat is believed to have an association with the store at 5821 Central Ave., Lieutenant Toney said.
A Walmart spokesman said all stores in the Toledo area were evacuated “out of an abundance of caution” while police investigated. All of the stores have since reopened.
“We appreciate the support from local authorities and the quick actions from store management that placed safety first for our customers and associates,” spokesman LeMia Jenkins said.
