Fire at Fostoria apartment complex forces out 15 residents

FOSTORIA — An unexplained fire that originated in the laundry room of an apartment complex prompted firefighters to temporarily evacuate 15 people from their residences here on Sunday night.

All but two were allowed to return, according to Lt. Fred Reinhart of the Fostoria Fire Department.

A Fostoria Police dispatcher said nobody was injured, which Lieutenant Reinhart also confirmed.

The fire was reported at 7:17 p.m., and was extinguished at 7:29 p.m. Firefighters cleared the scene and were back at their station at 8:58 p.m., Lieutenant Reinhart said.

The cause will be investigated on Monday.

The blaze occurred at an apartment complex at 425 West Ridge Dr., in a part of Fostoria that lies inside Hancock County. There was initially smoke throughout the apartment building, the lieutenant said.
