A handful of cases stemming from May 30 downtown Toledo protest have been resolved in Toledo Municipal Court while several others are set for a trial date next month.
Twenty-two people were arrested and charged for incidents relating to the May 30 protest that turned violent, according to city officials. While most of the cases are pending, some of the cases have been resolved, according to court records.
Tyelmera Flunder, 26, of the 5000 block of Jamieson Drive, entered a no contest plea to disorderly conduct, amended from a fourth-degree misdemeanor to a minor misdemeanor, for striking another woman with a closed fist on Erie and Adams streets.
Judge Amy Berling gave Ms. Flunder credit for time served in jail.
Shannon Kelly, 19, of the 300 block of Nichols Street, was sentenced in a separate trespassing case from a May 10 incident. His disorderly conduct charge from May 30 was dismissed.
Visiting Judge Mary Grace Trimboli sentenced Mr. Kelly to one year of inactive probation and suspended a 10-day jail sentence.
Joseph Fowler, 47, of the 300 block of Huron Street, pleaded no contest to an amended minor misdemeanor offense of disorderly conduct, originally a fourth-degree misdemeanor.
Court records say Mr. Fowler stood in the middle of Adams Street, blocking traffic, with an open beer container in his hand. He also stood in front of a police car and refused to move.
Judge William Connelly ordered Mr. Fowler to pay $100.
Keith Nelson, 19, of the 2400 block of Wealdstone Road, had his case dismissed after a large dispute erupted. Mr. Nelson was sitting on top of a car and said “[expletive] all ya all,” and was taken into custody. The location of this incident was redacted from court records.
Valerie Pedreschi, 27, of the 900 block of Madison Avenue, entered a no contest plea to an amended minor misdemeanor of disorderly conduct. She was originally charged with failure to disperse for failing to obey officers’ commands to leave, causing a disorder.
Judge Joshua Lanzinger gave Ms. Pedreschi jail credit for the time she already served.
Meanwhile, three men — Brian Wilson, 30, of the 300 block of Brookley Boulevard, and Kashawn Hines-Hamilton, 21, of the 300 block of East Park Street, and Stephon Griffin, 23, of the 800 block of South Erie Street, have all been indicted with felony-level offenses. Their cases will be overseen by a Lucas County Common Pleas Court judge.
The others who were charged that day have trials or pretrials pending for next month.
