A man was fatally shot during a confrontation with another man Friday afternoon in southern Sylvania Township, and a Toledo man accused of the shooting was arrested, township police reported.
Dr. Cynthia Beisser, a deputy Lucas County coroner, identified the victim Saturday as Christopher Fuelling, 28. She said an autopsy performed Saturday revealed he had been shot three times in the chest and leg, which caused his death.
Zechariah Gauer, 21, of the 1900 block of Roselawn Drive was booked into the Lucas County jail on a murder charge, according to jail records.
A written Sylvania Township Police Department statement provided no details beyond a location in the 3600 block of North McCord Road, near Blossman Road, for the 1:20 p.m. shooting. The police department released no further information Saturday.
It was the 59th homicide in the metro Toledo area this year.
