Defiance motorcyclist killed in Defiance County crash

DEFIANCE — A Defiance motorcyclist was killed late Tuesday when a vehicle struck him after his motorcycle hit deer on U.S. 24 in Richland Township, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported.

Chad L. Goff, 42, was westbound on U.S. 24 east of Defiance when he struck two deer at about 11:40 p.m., troopers from the patrol’s Defiance post said. Mr. Goff was thrown from his motorcycle and then hit by a westbound sport-utility vehicle driven by Rebecca Davis, 37, of Napoleon, troopers said.

Mr. Goff was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was injured, while the highway’s westbound lanes were closed for about three hours during the investigation.
