FREMONT — A 22-year old man was fatally shot early Friday in what a caller to 911 said was an accident, Fremont police reported.

Brett T. Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene in the 1200 block of Sycamore Street after police and medical responders were sent there about 3 a.m., police said.

Alcohol was believed to be a factor in the shooting, which the department said was being jointly investigated by local police and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
