WAUSEON — Muriel Michael, the fifth family member involved in a two-vehicle crash Saturday night, succumbed to her injuries Monday, according to a Tuesday update from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
And the state highway patrol disclosed that Xavier Brown, the front-seat passenger in the car with Ms. Michael, was the only person not wearing a safety belt in either vehicle.
Ms. Michael, 28, of Wauseon, was driving south with her fiancé and three children on Fulton County Road 14 at about 11:48 p.m. on Saturday when their car was struck by Zane Hull, 21, of Delta, who was driving east on County Road H.
Mr. Hull failed to yield the right of way to Ms. Michael’s vehicle, causing the crash, the highway patrol said.
Mr. Brown, 25, of Wauseon, was Ms. Michael’s fiancé, and was pronounced dead at the scene, along with one of their children, Deklin Jankowski, 9. The other children, Aurora Michael, 7, and Riggs Brown, 1, were transported by air ambulance to Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center, where they died on Sunday.
Ms. Michael was the last family member to die from the crash.
Mr. Hull was transported to Fulton County Health Center for non-life threatening injuries. The crash is still under investigation by the highway patrol.
A highway patrol spokesman said that safety belts and/or child safety seats were being used by all the occupants of both vehicles, except for Mr. Brown.
