Toledo fire department will give away fire alarms

The Toledo Fire & Rescue Department will provide free smoke alarms Thursday to residents who need them.

The giveaway will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Toledo Police Patrolman’s Association’s union hall, 1947 Franklin Ave. Fire officials will be on hand to answer fire safety questions, a news release said.

Officials said almost three in five home fire deaths result from fires in homes with no smoke alarms, or no working smoke alarms.
