A 15-year-old boy died after being shot Friday afternoon in his South Toledo home, authorities said.  

Toledo police were dispatched to the 500 block of Shasta Drive at 3:33 p.m. on a report of a person shot. Donald Hogan was taken to the University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio Hospital, where he later died.

Police are investigating the death as a homicide, which when formally determined would be the fifth homicide of 2023 in Toledo.

An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday, said Dr. Jeffrey Hudson, a Lucas County deputy coroner.
