ADRIAN — A large fire damaged several commercial buildings in downtown Adrian Saturday evening, city and fire officials said.
Twelve fire stations ended up being dispatched in addition to the Bedford, Lyons and Manchester fire departments, the Adrian Firefighters Local 1511 posted on its Facebook page.
Firefighters responded at 5:55 p.m., the Local 1511 said, and stayed on the scene for several hours.
“The fire escalated quickly, reaching a third alarm and then quickly to a fifth alarm,” the post said.
“The buildings at 117, 119, 121, and 123 West Maumee St. were significantly damaged by fire, water, and smoke,” the city said on its Facebook page Sunday afternoon. “There is also potential smoke damage at 115 West Maumee St.”
There were no reports of injuries, city officials said, but three businesses and five residents were impacted by the blaze.
On Monday, the Downtown Adrian Main Street Board will announce a relief effort to assist those in need. Anyone who needs assistance can contact Jay Marks at jmarks@adrianmi.gov or 517-264-4816.
The fire remains under investigation.
