Person struck, killed by train in Findlay

FINDLAY — A person walking along railroad tracks near Anchor Park was struck and killed by a passing train Friday morning, Findlay police said.

Chad M. Valentine, 52, of Arcadia, Ohio, was walking on the tracks between Clinton Court and East Main Cross Street around 6 a.m. when he was hit by a southbound CSX Transportation freight train. Mr. Valentine died at the scene.

His body was taken to the Lucas County Coroner’s Office at the request of the Hancock County Coroner.

Several railroad crossings in the area were blocked during the investigation, but all had been re-opened by 3 p.m. Friday.
