GENOA, Ohio — The village of Genoa has a new mayor and village administrator.
Thomas Bergman announced that on Monday, council had appointed him as the next village administrator, effective April 1 and that he had resigned as mayor prior to the meeting.
Council President Brent Huston was sworn in as Genoa mayor, Mr. Bergman said in the social media announcement.
"Never say never, but this likely concludes my 'political' career," Mr. Bergman wrote. "I will say it was pretty neat to have my term as mayor overlap exactly 100 years after my great-grandfather's. And while the history books are neat, this is ultimately about improving the community."
Mr. Bergman had been elected Genoa mayor in 2019.
Genoa is about 10 miles southeast of Toledo.
