All lanes reopen on Trail in Toledo; bridge replacements on home stretch

Over the weekend, the Anthony Wayne Trail work zone in Toledo between the Maumee border and Glendale Avenue was picked up.

The one downside of this project’s completion for people who live near the Trail is that among the first drivers to discover it were the drag-racing motorcyclists. The continuing presence of Trail lane closings in Maumee does not appear to have dimmed their enthusiasm a bit.

I swung past the two Ottawa River bridge reconstruction projects on the edges of Ottawa Hills on Friday, meanwhile, and both looked to be on target for August completions.

The decks on the Secor Road and Central Avenue bridges are both fully poured and construction of the parapet walls on the sides is under way.

The bridge on Central looked slightly farther along, and that’s consistent with a recent update posted to the Lucas County Engineer’s Office Facebook page listing its reopening as being in “mid-August.” Signs listing that project’s scheduled duration as 150 days tell me it would be right on time if Central reopens for the weekend of Aug. 12.

The Secor bridge is expected to reopen Aug. 23, which leaves just a little cushion before fall-semester classes start Aug. 28 at the neighboring University of Toledo.

Construction of a waterline tap will require lane closings this week on Navarre Avenue (State Rt. 2), the Oregon Department of Public Service announced.

Traffic will be maintained at one lane each way between Wynn and Stadium roads and is scheduled to run from Monday morning until 5 p.m. Friday.

In Toledo, Jefferson Avenue will be closed again Monday only between 13th and 14th streets. Detours will direct outbound traffic to Madison Avenue and inbound traffic to Monroe Street.
