The setting of beams for the replacement of the northbound I-475/U.S. 23 bridge over Monclova Road will require extra lane and ramp closings on three nights.
Monclova Road will also be shut down for four days due to the project.
For those affected by it, the Monclova closing will be a much bigger hassle, what with Maumee-Western Road (U.S. 20A) already closed long-term for bridge replacement at the freeway.
From 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights, northbound I-475/U.S. 23 will be down to one lane and the entrance ramp from eastbound U.S. 24 will be closed.
No detour route was announced for the closed ramp. For many travelers, the best alternative may be to continue east on U.S. 24 to Ford Street, then go north on Ford to Dussel Drive and enter I-475 from Dussel. The other option is to go south on I-475 to State Rt. 25 and reverse direction at that interchange.
From Monday through Thursday, Monclova will be a staging area for beams for the new I-475 bridge to be swung into place. The closest alternative routes will be U.S. 24 or Dussel Drive, with the former reached via Jerome and Russell roads and the Fallen Timbers interchange, and the latter via Jerome, Technology Drive, and Briarfield Boulevard to the west and via U.S. 24 and Ford Road in Maumee.

When it announced planned pavement repairs on I-475 in Perrysburg, meanwhile, the Ohio Department of Transportation said that work would occur on weekends through the end of September. Its latest weekly update, however, mentioned no lane closings this weekend or next.
The Anthony Wayne Trail (U.S. 24) rehabilitation in Maumee is causing a sequence of side streets to be blocked off. Gibbs Street is closed on either side of the Trail through Wednesday, while White Street will then close Thursday on both sides and stay that way through Oct. 6.

While its consultant team conducts a statewide analysis of Ohio’s highway network with a particular focus on corridors between the Columbus area and northern and northwest Ohio, the Ohio Department of Transportation also has begun work to develop smaller-scale improvements on U.S. 23 in Delaware and northern Franklin counties to ease travel delays there.
ODOT announced it will break the 23 miles between Waldo, in far southern Marion County, and Worthington in Franklin County into seven study segments to identify candidate locations for such projects as new interchanges, overpasses, “restricted-crossing U-turn” intersections, or other changes to ease congestion now associated with 40 traffic signals along that piece of highway.
Officials will hold public meetings at locations in that zone that also will be viewable online. It plans to hold an additional six “regional workshops” during early 2024 and have this study done by the end of next year including cost-benefit analysis and assessment of proposed projects’ readiness.

• I-75: Reduced to two lanes each way between Wales Road and the Anthony Wayne Trail for finish work following a reconstruction project. Nighttime (8 p.m. to 6 a.m.) ramp closings also possible at the Anthony Wayne Trail interchange during bridge painting.
• I-75 (Mich.): Lane closings, Exit 5 (Erie) to north of Exit 9 (LaSalle), for roadway reconstruction. Northbound traffic is crossed over to the southbound side until late in the construction season. The northbound ramps at South Otter Creek and the northbound entrance from Luna Pier Road are closed.
• I-275 (Mich.): Double-lane closings between Will Carleton Road and I-94 for concrete patching and bridge painting into October. Double-lane closings will continue through late October at South Huron Road daily between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. for bridge work. This affects traffic headed to/from Detroit Metropolitan-Wayne County Airport. Use I-75 to U.S. 24 and Eureka Road, or U.S. 23 to I-94, instead.
• I-475/U.S. 23: No shoulders and traffic is shifted between U.S. 24 (Exit 4) and Angola Road for reconstruction and widening. The ramp from westbound U.S. 24 to northbound I-475/U.S. 23 is closed long-term with a detour posted using the other interchange ramps. U.S. 20A (Maumee-Western Road) closed at I-475 for bridge reconstruction until mid-November.
• Ohio Turnpike (I-80/90): Right lane closed eastbound near the Maumee River.
• State Rt. 2: Lane closings between Port Clinton and the Edison Bridge over Sandusky Bay through fall. Pavement patching is under way between Port Clinton and State Rt. 269, while two bridges are being rehabilitated between Route 269 and the main bridge over the bay. Also, Route 2’s easterly interchange with State Rt. 53 is closed for construction of new roundabouts at the westbound ramps and at State Road. Use either the westerly Route 53 interchange or Route 269, then State Rt. 163 to and from Route 53. State Road will remain open.
• U.S. 20: Lane closings just east of Woodville, Ohio, for a resurfacing project.
• U.S. 20/23: Turn-lane construction west of Simmons Road causes significant delays westbound during peak travel times. Consider using Crossroads Parkway and State Rt. 795 to reach I-75.
• State Rt. 25/U.S. 24 (Anthony Wayne Trail): Lanes closed in both directions between Ford Road and Detroit Avenue in Maumee for repair and resurfacing.
• State Rt. 2 (Airport): Lane closings at Airport Highway and Byrne Road during intersection widening through October.
• State Rt. 295: Flag zones for resurfacing between Sylvania Avenue and the Michigan border through October.
• Perrysburg-Holland Road: Closed at Cairl Creek, south of Airport Highway, for bridge replacement. Use Holland-Sylvania Road instead.
• Monroe Street (Sylvania): Eastbound traffic only between a point west of Silica Drive to Main Street for reconstruction.
• U.S. 6/24, State Rt. 108: Route 108 and the westbound ramps at U.S. 6/24 interchange north of Napoleon are closed through October for construction of a roundabout. A posted detour for Route 108 uses U.S. 20A, State Rt. 109, and U.S. 24. Use the Industrial Drive interchange instead for local access.
• U.S. 127: Closed in Defiance County at the Maumee River until May, 2024 during bridge replacement. Car traffic may detour via State Rt. 18 or Old U.S. 24 to The Bend Road, but large commercial vehicles are detoured via State Rt. 15 and U.S. 24 around the western outskirts of Defiance to get over the river.
