ODOT awards contract for I-75 interchange project

FINDLAY — An Archbold, Ohio-based contractor is the low bidder for a state contract to rebuild I-75’s Hancock County Road 99 interchange with a “diverging diamond” layout, the Ohio Department of Transportation announced Wednesday.

Miller Brothers Construction bid $30.8 million for the project that is scheduled to start this spring and be finished in 2026. The project involves building a second bridge at the Road 99 interchange, then replacing the existing bridge and reconfiguring interchange ramps and a nearby stretch of Road 99. A multi-use path will be built through the area along Road 99 using part of the existing bridge.

The “diverging diamond” layout crosses opposing roadway lanes to the left side so that left turns can be made with minimal traffic conflict and fewer traffic signal phases than required for a conventional design.

ODOT expects to formally award the contract later this month and hold a public meeting in April to detail the construction schedule.
