The reopening date for Navarre Avenue’s eastbound lanes at I-280 has been pushed back by two weeks.

The eastbound side was closed in early February, with traffic detoured via Dearborn Avenue and Wheeling Street, to prevent long backups approaching a pipeline-repair project on the west side of Navarre’s intersection with Wheeling. A reopening had been scheduled for Friday.

While the Columbia Gas repair work is nearly complete, the eastbound closing will remain in place until April 11 while the pavement is replaced above the excavation, Kelly Wolfe, a city spokesman, said Wednesday afternoon.
