Four men are ordained deacons in Toledo diocese

In a Mass held at Rosary Cathedral Sept. 20, Bishop Leonard Blair ordained four men as permanent deacons in the Toledo Catholic Diocese.

Deacon Phil Avina was appointed to St. Aloysius Parish, Bowling Green; Deacon Mike Eier was appointed to St. Michael, Findlay; Deacon Trevor Fernandes was appointed to St. Joseph, Toledo, and Deacon Joe Malenfant was appointed to St. Joseph, Maumee.

All four were appointed to their home parish.

Permanent deacons have been serving the diocese since 1973 and are considered clergy ordained to service.
