Recently, the Sisters of Notre Dame attempted to share our side of the story on our plans to sell part of our property off Secor Road to Kroger. We’ve been deeply concerned by all the inaccuracies, and we wanted to set the record straight.

The primary rumor we wanted to address was that other offers were turned down in favor of Kroger. The Kroger plan was the only viable offer we received. No other proposal included a clear plan for how the property would be used, the financial goods to back it up, a reasonable timeline, and rational conditions.

Since our academy and early learning center will continue to be next door to this property, we owe it to the families and children who depend on us to know exactly how the land will be used. The Kroger plan was the only offer we received with such specificity.

We look forward to a full and fair hearing by the Toledo City Council’s zoning and planning committee, where all the facts are examined, not only inaccurate speculation.
