What was the purpose of publishing the lengthy article depicting all the negative emails/comments sent to Ohio State’s President regarding Urban Meyer? How very sad that it was thought to be interesting front page news to attack a man’s character...especially one who brought such class and distinction to his football program at OSU. How very sad to attack this coach who was born in Toledo, Ohio. I hope Urban never sees a copy of this article. If so, Toledo will never hold a special place in his heart again.

Sullivan stands out
Hooray for Judge Emmet Sullivan. He is a beacon of light in the wilderness. He has proclaimed that the truth does matter and that liars are disgusting. The culture of this day permits a serial liar to be president and the Republican Party to look the other way. Is anybody in Washington listening? It matters because good governments survive on truth and honesty. Dishonest governments fail from within.

Make streets festive
What a joy it has been this holiday season with all the activity in our ever evolving downtown Toledo. Hensville, Promenade Park, St. Clair Village was exciting to see all lit up with bright holiday cheer. Sadly, I wish it could have been said for the whole of downtown.
The stretch of Summit Street from Washington to Cherry streets, the HCR ManorCare building, Cherry from Summit to the Buckeye-Greenbelt, and Monroe Street from Summit to Collingwood Boulevard and their lack of holiday festive lighting just made downtown a dark and gloomy place. Streets like Summit, Cherry and Monroe all have center island with trees just begging to be decorated. How unfestive the scene was right in front of the Renaissance Hotel greeting all the holiday guests and parties going to the Heights.
How beautiful it would be to have an “adopt-a-street” decorating program for local and national businesses to sponsor so holiday season 2019 will be as festive and bright as the Toledo Zoo and the downtowns of Maumee, Sylvania, and Rossford.
