Man-made climate change just cost American's billions in damage from the Caldor forest fires and Hurricane Ida alone. Are we going to waste more money on basic rebuilds or are we going to get serious and admit everything has changed?
Since we have debated this real threat to our security for years, time is short and we need to make hard decisions now. The federal government needs to divert some of that bloated unaccountable wasted military budget to green energy infrastructure. States like Michigan and Ohio need to embrace solar and wind energy instead of building road blocks from the entrenched fossil fuel industry.
How can the American people not see this as a real threat to their family's future? We see shortages in building supplies causing inflation, in part, from environmental disaster rebuilds across America. Home insurance rates are rising from rebuilds in areas that are not viable anymore for habitation. Its costing all of us for these unaddressed problems.

Carty devoted to Toledo
This is Carty Finkbeiner’s fourth campaign for mayor of Toledo. He was elected three times before. Every day he devotes time to himself. He walks, often with friends. He rides his bike. He finishes on the treadmill. He eats healthy. He lives moderately. And, of course, he devotes himself to the city.
He accomplished a lot while in office and more since. Now he is asking to serve as mayor again. He is talking and listening to a lot of people, one-on-one, in meetings, at city events, and in neighborhood gatherings. And, he is preparing to be an even better mayor this time. One of the things he has done to prepare is ask others he knows well to run for office and work with him, to serve on city council, if elected. He is working hard to be mayor again, and, at the end of the day, he knows good people are needed on council working with whomever is mayor.
Those Carty asked to run for council are Alfonso Narvaez, George Sarantou, Harvey Savage, and me. All of us are running as independents, together. It was his idea to bring together Republicans, Democrats and independents. We are from north, south, east, and west sides of the city. He is uniting black, Hispanic, and white, young and older, male and female, college degreed and not, business, government, and not-for-profit managers to share common purpose.
What all of us know is that diverse teams work, that being accountable and responsible together will make a difference. That’s where real solutions to our city’s current and deep-seated problems of crime, blight, and health, as well as opportunity for young people and working people start; not by each working independently for his or her own interest only, but by all of us working together for the larger community of which we are a part.

Disgusting cartoon
I believe the Blade sunk to a new low Thursday by publishing the tasteless, disgusting cartoon that not only mocked the President of the United States but also disrespected the members of the armed forces that have served and given their lives for our country. Shame on The Blade.
