Leave it to Rep. Marcy Kaptur, the fossil of Ohio’s 9th District, to trip over her own sanctimonious tongue and land face-first in a pile of hypocrisy. Questioning Elon Musk’s loyalty because he’s “only” been a U.S. citizen for 22 years? This from a woman who’s been warming a congressional seat since 1983, back when shoulder pads were king and Reagan was calling the shots. Elon, meanwhile, has been busy revolutionizing industries and pumping jobs into America like a one-man economic stimulus package. Tesla’s cranking out cars, SpaceX is launching rockets to the stars, and the Department of Government Efficiency is slashing bureaucratic fat faster than you can say “government waste.”
But sure, Marcy, let’s debate his “allegiance” because he wasn’t born sipping Bud Light at a Toledo tailgate.
While Kaptur clutches her pearls over Musk’s 22 years of citizenship, let’s talk facts: Elon’s companies have created tens of thousands of American jobs — Tesla alone employs over 70,000 people stateside — and his innovations have made the United States a global leader in tech and space. DOGE, under Trump’s blessing, is already rattling the cages of D.C.’s bloated swamp creatures, promising to save taxpayers billions by hacking away at red tape. Contrast that with Marcy’s 42-year snoozefest in Congress. How many bills has she actually authored and passed in all that time? A measly five have become law.
After 42 years of squatting in Congress, it’s high time Ohio’s 9th District sends Kaptur packing. She’s got the nerve to call out Musk — an immigrant who’s done more for America in two decades than she has in four — while her resume reads like a pamphlet for mediocrity. Only five bills passed in 42 years? That’s not a career; that’s a taxpayer-funded retirement plan. Trump’s administration, with Musk’s DOGE muscle, is proving what real leadership looks like: bold, brash, and results-driven. Kaptur’s just a relic of the old guard, tossing stale insults at visionaries while clutching her 2019 “immigrants are great” resolution like a security blanket. Legal immigrants are great for the country —like Elon Musk.
Ohio deserves better. Retire her already — let’s get someone who can keep up with the Musk-Trump turbocharge.

Ed. note: Republican claims during the 2024 election campaign that Ms. Kaptur had passed only one bill in 15 years were debunked, and ads repeating that claim were removed from the air. The Blade previously reviewed Ms. Kaptur’s record of introducing legislation and found that she co-sponsored more than 100 bills that have become law, such as the Great Lakes Authority Act of 2022, the Keep Our Pension Promises Act, the Vet HP Act, and the Neil A. Armstrong Test Facility Act. The Blade does not endorse the factual accuracy or opinions of this editorial.
