U.S. Women's Open champ Saso to play in Marathon Classic

The U.S. Women’s Open champion is coming to Highland Meadows.

Yuka Saso, a 20-year-old whiz kid from the Philippines, committed to play in the Marathon LPGA Classic presented by Dana. She’s currently ninth in the world ranking.

In her two tournaments this season, Saso won the U.S. Open and tied for sixth at the Lotte Championship in Hawaii. Saso’s U.S. Open triumph came when she sank a birdie putt in a playoff with Japan’s Nasa Hataoka.

Despite consecutive double bogeys on Nos. 2 and 3 in the final round, Saso rallied as American Lexi Thompson floundered down the stretch.

The Marathon Classic is July 8-11 at Highland Meadows Golf Club in Sylvania. Tickets can be purchased at marathonclassic.com.
