Owens Community College is bringing back its men's soccer program for the 2024-25 academic year, the school announced this week.
From 1998 to 2015, Owens fielded a men's soccer team, but the program was shut down as a cost-savings measure following the 2015-16 academic year.
The Express soccer program achieved a high level of success, making the NJCAA Region XII tournament 14 times, winning a championship during the 2005-06 season. The Express won their first conference title in 2012-13.
“We have been able to reintroduce women’s soccer, baseball, and softball with success and are excited to offer men’s soccer again for the Express,” Owens athletic director Shelley Whitaker said in a statement.
The school will begin a search for a head coach this month.
