Amy Manning wins her first Mercy Health Glass City Marathon

Amy Manning ran in her third marathon and picked up her first win at the Mercy Health Glass City Marathon, but she’ll have to wait another race to break the winner’s ribbon.

The male runner just ahead of Manning mistakenly ran through the tape that was set up for her, and an angry Manning yelled at him as she crossed the finish line.

“I was a little upset not to get to break the tape because I’ve never gotten to do that before,” Manning said. “But in the grand scheme of things that doesn’t really matter.”

From mile 18 on, Manning said she was alone and knew she was ahead of the pack.

“The course was flat, which was really what I was looking for,” Manning said. “I had a great day. It feels so good to be done.”

Manning ran the course unofficially in 2:52:52.
