JACKSONVILLE — Bowling Green senior Aliyah Gustafson earned a spot in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championship meet Saturday with a fourth-place finish in the shot put at the East Region meet at Hodges Stadium on the campus of the University of North Florida.
Gustafson, a senior from Iowa City, Iowa, earned her third trip to the NCAA national meet with a throw of 55 feet, 3½ inches on her final throw of the competition.
The four-time All-American had fouled on her first attempt and had a 51-7 on her second throw.
Teammates Zaresha Neal placed 38th after her best throw of the competition came on her final attempt, 49-0¾.
Toledo senior Katie Dewey finished in 40th with a best of 48-10.
The NCAA national meet will take place June 6-8 at the University of Texas in Austin.
