The Hockey Hall of Fame has elected former Bowling Green State University coach Jerry York as part of its Class of 2019.
York, who coached the Falcons from 1979 to 1994, led the program through its greatest years, which included winning the national championship in 1984. While at BGSU, York coached players such as Ken Morrow, Rob Blake, Nelson Emerson, and Dan Bylsma.
In 1994, York accepted the head coaching position at Boston College, where he has been ever since. York helped the Eagles win four national championships between 2001 and 2012.
The Hall of Fame announced Tuesday that York will be inducted in the builders category alongside Pittsburgh Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford.
Guy Carbonneau, Sergei Zubov, Vaclav Nedomansky, and Hayley Wickenheiser were elected as former players.
The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held Nov. 18 in Toronto.
